Heading to the Highlands? Make every step count. Whether you’re planning a long weekend getaway or a spirited basecamp trip, why bag just one Munro when you can conquer five? These five trips are designed for peak baggers aiming to maximise ascent and inspiration—all without endless driving. Each is grouped geographically to keep logistics on your side.
1. Ben Lawers Group – Central Highlands
- Munros: Ben Lawers (1,214 m), Beinn Ghlas (1,103 m), Meall Corranaich (978 m), Meall a’ Choire Lèith (1,030 m), Meall nan Tarmachan (1,043 m)
- Base Location: Killin (car park and bunkhouse options)
- Day 1: Meall Corranaich → Ben Lawers → Beinn Ghlas via loop (↑15 km / 6–7 hrs)
- Day 2: Meall a’ Choire Lèith → Meall nan Tarmachan (↑10 km / 4–5 hrs)
- Why it’s great: High ridge experience, solid summit count with minimal logistics
- Top Tip: Park at NTS lot and hit the northern peaks first to catch soft morning light
2. Glenshee South – Cairngorms
- Munros: Carn Aosda (917 m), The Cairnwell (933 m), Càrn a’ Gheoidh (975 m), Càrn Daimh (941 m), Càrn an Tuirc (992 m)*
- Base Location: Glenshee or Braemar hostel
- Day 1: Lift-assisted Carn Aosda + Cairnwell, then onto the main ridge (↑12 km / 5 hrs)
- Day 2: Loop Carn a’ Gheoidh → Carn Daimh → Carn an Tuirc (↑13 km / 6 hrs)
- Why it’s great: Quick routes, ideal for inclement weather or first Munro trip
- Top Tip: Use ski-lift drops where possible to conserve summit energy
3. Grey Corries & Aonach Beag/Mòr – Lochaber
- Munros: Aonach Beag (1,234 m), Aonach Mòr (1,221 m), Stob Coire an Laoigh (1,116 m), Stob Choire Claurigh (1,177 m), Stob Coire Easain (1,150 m)
- Base Location: Fort William or Kinlochleven
- Itinerary: Full-day route along the eastern Grey Corries ridge linking all five (↑18 km / 8–9 hrs)
- Why it’s great: One of Scotland’s longest ridge walks—remote, wild, and spectacular
- Top Tip: Start in darkness and finish by headtorch to beat the midges

- Base Location: Morvich campsite or Glen Shiel bunkhouse
- Day: Classic ridge traverse including most sisters (↑17 km / 8 hrs)
- Why it’s great: Raw ridge energy, panoramic views over Morar & Loch Duich, no crowds
- Top Tip: Arrange two cars or hitch back from Shiel Bridge to loop next day
5. Beinn a’ Ghlo & Schiehallion – Atholl
- Munros: Carn Liath (1,083 m), Braigh Coire Chruinn-bhalgain (1,070 m), Carn nan Gabhar (1,121 m), Schiehallion (1,083 m), Meall nan Tarmachan* (1,043 m)
- Base Location: Pitlochry or Glenshee hostel
- Day 1: Beinn a’ Ghlo horseshoe (↑25 km / 9–10 hrs)
- Day 2: Schiehallion day-walk (↑10 km / 4–6 hrs)
- Why it’s great: Two huge days — remote ridges followed by approachable classic summit
- Top Tip: Fuel up in Pitlochry — the bakery helps you rebuild after that first giant day
